About Me

Izaak Tanna, B.A., M.A., P.G.C.E., P.G.Cert.

I am currently Head of Theology, Philosophy & Religion at The Pilgrims’ School in Winchester, where I also teach Latin and serve as Lay Chaplain.

Originally from Yorkshire, I studied History at Oxford University and King’s College London, and Theology at Durham University. I spent six years as Head of History and Head of Religious Studies at St Philip’s School in London before moving to Winchester in 2025. During this time I completed a PGCE at the University of Buckingham and a PGCert in Historical Studies at Oxford University. I serve on the council of the Independent Schools Religious Studies Association and was elected an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. In addition I am a Exam Reviewer for ISEB in History and TPR.

My academic interests lie in medieval theology and philosophy, with particular emphasis on the thought of Thomas Aquinas, as well as on religious piety at court during the medieval and early modern periods. My current research project is an academic book for young adults on the Dukes of Burgundy.
